At The Walker Arms, we believe a great pub is more than just a place to eat and drink, it’s where stories are shared, friendships are built and communities come together. Located in the heart of New Milton, just moments from the New Forest, our pub blends a rich local history with a fresh, modern approach to hospitality.
The pub was refurbished in early 2019 and reopened as The Walker Arms, named in honour of former landlady Gladys Walker.
Gladys Walker, the UK’s longest-serving landlady from 1951 to 2001, helped shape the pub’s strong community spirit that continues today.
The building has historic roots, having housed Canadian pilots during the Second World War, adding to its long-standing place in New Milton’s history.
While The Walker Arms has evolved over the years, the essence of a traditional British pub remains at its core. Today, it is run by a fifth-generation publican family with over 20 years of experience managing venues around the world.
That experience is reflected in everything we do, from the way we welcome guests to the quality of food, drink and service we provide. Our team is trained in wine knowledge, cocktail preparation and customer interaction, ensuring every visit feels personal and memorable.

Towards the rear, the pub opens into a bright and airy dining space, finished with character features such as wooden flooring, exposed brickwork and traditional touches that create a warm, inviting setting.
Outside, our large beer garden provides plenty of seating, with over 20 benches and a dedicated children’s play area, making it ideal for families, groups and sunny afternoons.

We show all major sporting events on large screens, run our own pool and darts teams, and host regular weekly activities including free pool on Wednesdays and tournament nights on Thursdays.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand what we offer even further, with plans for live music, outdoor events, farmers markets and family activity days in our spacious garden.
